### Summary
**The Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center is seeking to fill a full time Credentialing Program Assistant (OA) position in Wichita Kansas.**
Salary range:
GS 5 - $31,944 - $41,530/annum
GS 6 - $35,609 - $46,294/annum
**Work Schedule:**Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm.

### Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to: Maintaining the credentialing files for the Credentialing and Privileging (C&P;) Program under the Chief of Staff. Enrolls applicants in the credentialing system (vetpro), sets passwords, trouble shoots problems identified by the practitioner, extends expiration dates, opens files for update, verifies submission in vetpro, and maintains qualify control of the documents. The assistant tracks submission of Vetpro and initiates letters/telephonic inquiries to other facilities for verification of education, training, experience (peer references), board certifications, licenses, controlled substance certificates and documentation of involvement in administrative, professional, or judicial proceedings in which professional malpractice was alleged. Interacts with insurance companies, courts, attorneys, and other institutions in retrieving information and verifying malpractice allegations reported by the applicant/National Practitioner Data Bank. Attends the Professional Standards Board (PSB) for the purpose of presenting information for consideration of appointment and privileging actions, assures completion of PSB minutes, board actions, and other pertinent PSB documents. The incumbent serves as a support assistant for the facility's Research and Development (R&D;) Program and processes incoming/outgoing materials such as correspondence reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication. Edits letters, composes letters and reports.

### Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 05/24/2018.
**Time-In-Grade Requirement**: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
* **Specialized Experience for GS-05**: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-4) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Maintaining credentialing files such as verification of licenses, board certifications, and verification of education; sending out credentialing letters; scanning in documentation into a credentialing system; OR,
* **Education:** Applicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS 5 grade level. To qualify based on education, you must have 4 years above high school. You must provide your transcript to be considered based on education. OR,
* **Combination:** Applicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS 5 grade level. To qualify based on education, you must have 4 years above high school.
* **Specialized Experience for GS-06**: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-5) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Assigning access to Service Chiefs and others in the credentialing system, troubleshooting problems identified by the practitioners with the system, presenting information at the Professional Standards Board, establishing and maintaining files related to the credentialing process, and performing verification of credentials.; OR,
* **Education:**As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS 5 for most positions covered by these qualification standards; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the credentialing process. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
**Note**: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
**Physical Requirements:**The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, walking, standing, stooping and bending are required. Some light lifting and carrying of items like papers, files, or books is required. Must be mentally alert and manual dexterity is very important.
